The FABC E-mail List
The Friends have an e-mail list to promote discussion, debate and activity on all things ABC.
What is an E-mail List - A Definition
The Internet provides thousands of discussion groups via e-mail by allowing users to place themselves on electronic mailing lists.
These e-mail lists are operated using specialist software - we use SVlist. The software distributes an e-mail message from one member of a list to all other members on that list. When you subscribe to a list, your name and e-mail address is added to the list (but not displayed unless you post a message). You will receive a standard welcome message (via e-mail) telling you about the list after which you will receive all messages sent to the list by its members. You may follow the discussions and if you want, join in. You can send your response to the list (in which case, all members of the list will receive it), or to an individual on the list that has posted a message. You can unsubscribe from a list at any time.
The FABC E-mail List
The FABC List is a moderated list. That is, messages are posted to the list after they have been 'accepted' by the FABCList Moderator. Please keep your discussion on-topic (about the ABC or Friends of the ABC) and civil. If a subscriber is deemed to have abused the mailing list by consistently posting irrelevant or offensive material, they will be removed from the list. The views posted to the list do not necessarily represent those of the FABC (NSW) Inc, or any individual who has subscribed to the list. Neither FABC (NSW) Inc nor the FABCList Moderator take any responsibility for the consequences of any postings that may appear on the list.
The volume of list mailings is highly variable, ranging from a couple of items per day to several dozen in times of crisis. There is the option to receive a weekly digest of messages - see below for details. The Digset is sent out each Friday afternoon. Most email programs allow you to set up rules or actions so that you can file messages into a specific folder for later off-line perusal. Check your email program's help for more details.
